A dental therapist is a licensed dental auxiliary who specialises in treating children's teeth and providing oral hygiene services. Our therapists work closely with our dentists to provide the best possible care for your child.

Dental Therapists perform all the functions of a Dental Hygienist with the addition of the following:

  • Examine the teeth and mouth and prepare a care plan
  • Provide oral health care advice
  • Take x-rays and impressions of patients' mouths for the construction of study casts and mouthguards
  • Restore (place fillings) both permanent and deciduous (baby) teeth including vital pulp treatments such as pulpotomies
  • Remove deciduous teeth with the administration of local anesthesia
  • Provide preventive dental care such as fissure sealants and fluoride treatments
  • Provide some orthodontic procedures
  • Provide oral health promotion in the community.

Our dental therapists provide dental care to children, adolescents and young adults up to the age of twenty five.
